Welcome Old Age Fencing Problems

- Concrete set post -

"A fence is only as strong as it's corners" a well known fact I learned from a local farmer some 30 years ago.

Even concrete set posts give away in time

There were 3 problems here

  • First - we see a problem where concrete (note the circled area) was used and the ground gave away.
  • Second - A cedar post was installed with a "dog Leg" and it also gave away
  • Third - Finally the top of the cedar post was connected to the cedar post at the other end and this held the fence tight.

Here we have a picture showing that even though there was plenty of concrete pored - in time the nature will take its course and remove the ground. Therefore the fence corner will have to be moved. It will be more economical as well as much easier using our connectors that will last as long as the ground is there.

This is a more extreme example of what happens if you do NOT repair the fence corner and the ground gives away - it will fall and the livestock will be able to just walk over it.

This state installs a line post for support every 1/10th of a mile along their major highways. These line support post consist of a 3" angle iron center post with 1.5 inch angle iron support. They use a single support for gates and a double support for the line support post. As you can see they do use concrete to anchor them in the ground.
